Before I dive into a meticulous 3 piece paragraph about my lustful obsession with Naeem Khan’s silhouette, allow me to take a minute or two to wet your blanket…for those who’ve been anticipating the 3rd part of our Femme Fatale series I hate to do this but Marlene and I faced quite the challenge with the quality of the photos and being major perfectionists, we refuse to put up content we aren’t remotely proud of. How we’d love to re-shoot but our difference in time zones is yet another hurdle we have to face. Further, I’ll be away for the next two weeks on bed rest. For those following me on Snapchat you might have caught a glimpse that I was under the knife yesterday and despite the fact that I’m doing great, shooting just isn’t on my prescription…perhaps if I bombard you with mondo articles of SS16 New York , Milan and London Fashion Week you won’t notice my absence? 😀
That’s the distance I would travel for a chance to sit front row and immerse myself in the brilliance that is Naeem Khan. A man whose intrinsic attention to detail is somewhat pure serendipity. Consistently parading skillfully embellished pieces worthy of any feminine form, Khan has over the years proven his exquisite grasp of his muse and of course if anything appeals to me it’s his ability to vamp colour without horribly channeling ‘The age of the clown’ 😀
His 2016 Spring/Summer collection was an excellent blend of chic, structured and exorbitant craftsmanship whose precise attention to detailed went unnoticed. The collection channeled the 50s and 60s (my all time favourite centuries when it comes to any form of history on cultural heritage) producing a vibrant palette and multi dimensional embellishments that had me scrapping lightly over my imaginary cheque book…I might have gotten carried away but who wouldn’t with a collection this impressive?
