Sitting frosty cold but dry on mama’s sofa sipping on some hot chocolate trying desperately to fight this cold June morning in Nairobi was definitely not in my to do list when I woke up today…but here’s the thing about fancy quotes you don’t get to use everyday, ‘When life gives you lemons, honey make some lemonade!’
Oversized has always been a fashion no no but when it comes to coats, it’s safe to say I booked my first class ticket on that bus as soon as the rains started. There’s just something scenic about coveted style diaries that generate neurotransmitters right through my spine that gives me chills…the good kind.
Here’s the little trick and tips you need to look at while embracing this trend:
1. Keep the rest of the outfit fitted
You want to balance out your outfit to create the perfect contrast between the blob gabardine and the rest of the outfit. Kim K’s classic pencil dress/ pencil skirt and top ensemble is one I can quickly recommend for a day at the office or a date and pencil jeans for everyday shenanigans. Be sure to add some pointy heels to enhance your silhouette.
2. Shorter hemlines
Keep it short and classy in mini skirts and flirty shorts and pair these with leggings and your favorite pair of boots. I can almost guarantee you will be the envy of the town.
3. Clinch it
Invest in a couple of cute belts for that sassy but classy look while accentuating your curves. Girls we always wonna feel a little sexy don’t we? Don’t be afraid to show off your curves.
4. Cool kid problems
You definitely wonna be that girl when you arrive at your destination…the said “cool kid” and that’s never a bad thing so get yourself into those boyfriend jeans and snug up in a cool sweatshirt for this look.
5. Be bold
Don’t be afraid of a little colour. Invest in brighter hues such as yellow, aqua blue and violet to draw attention to your outfit. It depicts confidence and above everything else has the innate ability to brighten up your mood and leave you feeling like a little glass bubble of fun loving joy. Who wouldn’t wonna snuggle up to you?
I sorta wish I was this knowledge filled before I did this photoshoot about a year ago. So many things I would have done different but I hope this little tips help you guys out during this season.
Keep warm and stay safe and remember,
L’hiver est le moment temps le comfort, la bonne norriture et la chaleur du contact d’une main amicale et pour une tache a cote du feu (winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, the touch of a friendly hand and for a task beside the fire).
