Currently going through about 6 panic attacks per minute!!!
Give me a date and a destination and I guarantee you; the only thing that will be processed by my brain is anything remotely associated with the word ‘travel’. They say money can’t buy you happiness but honestly daddy just bought me a first class ticket to Disneyland well not literally but Pwani is close enough no? :p
If you are anything like me, then your family is already sending you double texts with grim reminders to pack lightly…does anyone even know what that means coz I sure have no inkling 😀 Since I can’t really promise to pack light – except for my selection of bright coloured ensembles, I might as well pack neat. Here’s a few tips when it comes to packing and essentials you must have when travelling down to the Coast:
1. Short, flirty hemlines.
If you’ve kept up with my previous posts then you’ve probably noticed how much I love flaunting my legs. I guess on a scale of 1 to vanity I’m a down right Rihanna…up top if you get what I mean 😀 Nothing says beach wanderlust like short, flirty hemlines so by now you can probably understand why I’m gonna need about 6432 minutes to get through my pill of dresses, skirts and shorts to pick out what gets to come with me.
2. Double up on storage.
I can’t emphasis this enough. Pack up all your essentials in tiny bags for easier access. This also doubles up as a checklist to help you remember what you still have to pack. There’s something incredibly calming about being able to locate what you need without breaking a sweat. Also the fact that I get to use cute tiny bags just makes it all the more fun!
If you are travelling by air, be sure to carry a travel bag and stash all your essentials in – a change of clothes for one day, toothbrush, passport, purse, facial products, a comfy pair of flats. Trust me your gonna need these when your suitcase decides to take a detour to Maui Island but forgot to send you the memo and it’s 12 hours since you landed and you are seriously hyperventilating and not even a creative dive into your underwear will save you.
3. Comfort is crucial.
How many flats can a girl own? Apparently not enough; unless of course you are Victoria Beckham then girl you are a pair to much!
4. Sun hats, Sunnies and Sunscreen.
I believe in pink, I believe in coconut oil, I believe in water but I swear by sunscreen. Don’t let anyone fool you hunie, no matter how much melanin you bless this world with, sunscreen should an essential part of your beauty regime! There’s nothing more important than taking care of your skin and 10 years from now you’ll understand why. I know I’m not the only one who suffers sunburns for months after hitting the tropics? I’m definitely ready to soak up those rays with my 6 hats! 😀
Because no trip is ever complete without a camera, iPod, Laptop, chargers and somewhere in my dreams a white pill *sending subtle hints because Christmas is 79 days away*
Make a point of keeping all your electronics near you to ensure they are protected from any form of damage and for quick access. There’s nothing worse than a road trip with no playlist to match that enthusiasm!
6. Make up bag.
You probably hate entertaining the thought of make up spilling over all your clothes don’t you? Nothing makes more sense than safely storing them in a cute make up bag to avoid any accidents. Truth be told the only thing that’s gonna be needing a little foundation will be the eye bags on my face because excitement won’t let me sleep!
You have no idea how much I needed a gateway!
7. Roll up.
As I cue Wiz Khalifa 😛
A friend of mine showed me this tip well obviously because packing is the single biggest challenge I have to deal with and I must admit this makes it easier to stuff a couple more outfits into my suitcase without mama noticing. If you can’t pack light, you might as well pack smart!
Love and love.
